The school is one of the most significant organizations in our society and one structure that carries some of our fondest memories. It also has a vast impact in our lives, in our individualities and our beliefs and opinions of the world. That’s why we must make school maintenance and repair an ordinary activity.
We must team up to make the school a productive place of education and that entails the roofs are not dripping, the paint are not peeling off the walls and ceilings, the drains are not clogged, the gym roof is not seeping out, the showers have hot water when you need it, and everything is running well. To put it simply, quality education is right away associated with the quality of the amenities and building. Do you insist on students to learn effectively when the walls look like a mosaic and the rooms are in very dangerous shape? Do you expect students to gather scientific principles and theories when the laboratories are not completely equipped and may not be even safe for experimentations? These types of learning environments will yield low quality education.
That’s why the government must act directly with school officials to make school maintenance and repair a main concern in law-making and budget discussions. There must be a budget for this project. Nonetheless, it is a sad truth that most state representatives and public government agencies are not so enthusiastic in forming this investment into our future. We need to hit the road now if we want to yield responsible and good citizens in the future. And that starts by standing up to the challenges of our school system and to the quality of education we are compelled to handle. Let us not forget that the students now will be the next batch of directors, authorities, and workers. It is our duty to provide them quality education today. Besides, it is the government’s responsibility to guarantee that there is enough subsidy for restoration and repair. It is now time that we let ourselves be understood and make certain our children are provided the best in education.
Not only are our schools suffering from deterioration but so are other structures and buildings in our country today. Historical buildings, houses and other institutions are also in bad shape and seriously need several renovation. Church repair and restoration is not the same from performing repairs for school buildings. Churches are not only religious places but also give shelter to some of the most important pieces of art. An illustration of such repair was the refurbishment of the Sistine Chapel, and you can actually notice the difference before and after the cleaning of the ceilings and the frescos. It is our duty nowadays to uphold the past and guarantee that the future is positive for our children.
